Sharon's Wellies

Well it’s a horrible day after the night of snow,

Here I am trying to stay up,

walking down the hill to the train station,

wellies on and looking like a twit.

As soon as I’m in station, high heels come on

I can’t go up with wellies

Half my friends were laughing saying

“You’re a snob”

Well, if that’s a snob, then that’s cool.

Well, we are all talking and saying

that we need to be home early,

I had an important meeting,

then I got on the next train back.

Looking out of the train window,

I see snow, and more snow,

so wellies are back on my feet.

As I approached our drive,

a lorry came by very fast,

and I fell in the garden

Breaking my arm.

That’s me and my wellies!

Aerial View of Trees

Sevenoaks Storm of 1987

Sevenoaks had seven oak trees,

that were said to have given

the town its’ name,

‘Sevenoaks’.

But in 1987, on 15th October,

over night, we had a storm,

to which we lost six of the seven oaks,

on the Vine, where they play cricket,

and are a jolly good team at that.

So, after many people getting together,

and making a lot of noise at the Council,

they decided to plant seven oaks.

There we were on the television,

Gloria Hunniford and Council officials

interviewed on the news,

talking about putting the oaks back in the Vine.

Well, after many years,

the oaks are growing,

like all the families in Sevenoaks,

and it is SEVENOAKS

And Sharon slept through the night,

and could not believe the damage done!
