I Remember Missiles Soaring Through the Sky

I remember…

Jumping on my dad’s back - off the couch.

Being treated to a piggy-back,

All around the house.

Sticking a bead up my nose

And dad trying to pull it out.

I remember…

Staring scared and helpless as petrifying missiles

Soared across the night sky.

Sliding down a wintery hill,

Straight into my newly-built snowman -

Sigh!

I remember…

The sunset in Portugal:

Orange, red, yellow and purple.

The wonderful smell of grandma’s curry,

Together -

For that one last meal.

I Remember the Time Granny Tested the Meringue!

I remember…

Heading to nursery,

Eating my favourite snacks:

Nachos of course - who doesn’t like that?

Watching trucks zoom about

On a racing track,

Like they were giving a heavy massage

On the road’s back.

I remember…

My red and yellow pedal car,

Of which I always lost the key.

My old toy kitchen,

With food that was rather woody.

The first time I used deodorant -

Ever so tickly!

I remember…

Ginger and buttercup:

Playing with my cats.

The time Granny tested the meringue

Disastrously…

Over my head…

Splat!!!

I Remember Falling Out of a Tree!

I remember…

My grandpa always giving me a kit-kat:

Every time I saw him.

Hearing my cousin’s cat – Kit

Purrrrrrrrr-ing.

Seeing my class for the first time,

Then playing and having fun.

Putting a whoopie cushion out,

For my brother to sit on.

I remember…

Having a wet-wipe war,

In the back of our car.

Being spat at and chased

By a huge alpaca!

Falling out of my 10 ft apple tree -

Laughing.

My first two front milk teeth

Not lasting.

I Remember Claude Monet’s Garden

I remember…

Getting a new science kit

And not reading the instructions -

Fail!

Working in our lovely allotment,

Eating raw kale.

I remember…

Claude Monet’s Garden and bridge,

So hot I was slowly turning red.

My favourite dinosaur toy,

Now sat all alone…

In a spidery shed.

I remember…

Making a pact,

That we probably won’t remember;

But staying close friends,

Perhaps best friends?

Forever?

I Remember My First, Ever Shoes

I remember…
Hugging my sister
With warm arms;
Running from Papa trying to kiss me,
And making my teddies dance.

The sound of my needles
Clicking.
A soft, warm scarf – knitting.

I remember…
Nanny’s never-ending kindness
And her ‘Big Red, Post-box’ house.
My tiny, first ever shoes:
Small enough for a mouse.

I remember…
Getting angry about being in traffic,
In my toy car.
Swimming in the ocean at Cyprus,
Being told to not go, too far.

I remember…
My 3 cats: Peanut, Meg and Mog;
Me playing on a trampoline.
Going down the scariest, hairiest, water slide.
That you have never, ever seen;
And the magical feel of books
With silky pages - fluttering.
