Welcome from West Kent Mind

West Kent Mind is a proud member of the Mind Federation. We ensure that people experiencing mental health problems get support and respect through inclusive, engaging support services. These services are designed to build mental health resilience and wellbeing within the community. We are committed to excellence in our mission to help individuals get well, stay well, and thrive.

Allowing ourselves time to engage in creative activities and taking pleasure in noticing, shaping, listening and making can encourage mindfulness, relaxation and improved mood. It can also help to increase concentration and confidence and reduce stress and anxiety.

Our Creative Agent Development Programme (CADP) forms part of West Kent Mind’s Creative Mind project, funded by the National Lottery. The CADP moves away from general artistic activities to focus on an “agent’s” personal development and growing their potential. Through group and individual mentoring, our agents gain confidence in their own processes as well as becoming advocates for the arts and wellbeing.

As part of the CADP, the Moving Forwards with Your Writing Journey mentoring programme has been running monthly online since May of this year. Led by author Jennifer Godfrey and supported by West Kent Mind’s programme coordinator, Jen Martindale, participants come together to share their love of writing, hear from guest speakers, complete writing exercises, discuss and critique each other’s work and work on their own personal projects.

Curated by the participants themselves, this Exhibition, Journey - Life and Writing, reflects on their own development and experience of writing, whilst giving us the opportunity to showcase the boosted wellbeing benefits of this creative mentoring programme.

We are hugely proud of all those agents who have worked hard to produce this excellent and thought-provoking Exhibition - they truly are advocates for the arts and wellbeing! We hope you enjoy it.
